OUR PRACTICE

THE STUDIO     THE TEAM

While in her second year of Architecture at UNSW Pouné worked alongside her father completing the design and documentation of her first residential project. After further studies in California she graduated from UNSW with First Class Honours. Her first position as a graduate architect was with one of the most prestigious firms in Australia, Cox Richardson.

Before starting her own business Pouné was involved in a whole range of projects, from large scale commercial projects for Sydney’s most prominent buildings such as the ABC building in Ultimo, to international competition entries and gathering historical data for the Heritage Department.  Such exposure allowed her to gain insight into the processes undertaken within large practices, working as part of a team and the opportunity to learn from accomplished architects.

Pouné cites some of her most invaluable experience as being gained through collaborative projects and competitions such as those undertaken with Tom Rivard of Lean Productions (Venice Biennale 2008 & the East Darling Harbour Competition), specifically his unique approach of taking design back to the core of art and creativity.

Gwinganna Health Retreat is also a great source of pride to Pouné, taking on such a large scale project at the age of 26 with limited experience, resulting in a resort which has received many industry awards.

Pouné  is particularly interested in the process of design and collaboration with clients to create aesthetically pleasing spaces and buildings while maintaining functionality, especially finding resolution in challenging spacial organisations. She approaches each design through the analysis and production of tactile, sensitive conceptual models and studies.

As a Director Pouné  is passionate about leading a team and encouraging student development and has previously taught as a design tutor at UNSW.

Poune’s achievements are not limited to her successful design studio. She also has a passion for the health and fitness industry. As Fitness First’s Design Manager she was also one of their Group Fitness Leaders and she appeared on Series 1 & 2 of Celebrity Overhaul for the Nine Network as a celebrity trainer.
