Sanura is a private residence located on the Gwinganna Health Retreat property.

Designed with the direction of the sun and prevailing breeze in mind, Sanura is a culmination of the client’s admiration of South East Asian Pavilions with their seamless integration of indoor and outdoor living spaces and that of Poune Design’s vision of building resort style luxury with that of a warm and welcoming homestead that would become a sanctuary from the surrounding business.

Sanura is a collection of intimate living spaces that blends outdoor and indoor areas effortlessly while also providing absolute privacy.  Split levels enable the design to follow the flow of the sloping land, while each space was oriented to capture the views beyond and create a harmonious equilibrium between natural and man-made elements.  Careful planning enabled the east wing to be segregated from the west wing as well as living areas from the sleeping ones – to allow residents, but also guests inhabit the space.

The roof structure has been designed to allow for the addition of solar panels and cross ventilation through the use of louvered windows, installation of ceiling fans, large roof overhangs and general orientation play an imperative part in ensuring Sanura was an ecologically sustainable residence.
