An elegant contemporary dwelling with a touch of rock & roll.
The existing site consisted of a front and a rear building with no physical connection between the two.
The rear structure was thought to have once been the previous horse stable on the property but had since been renovated to a studio living space and the front building being a double terrace that had been joined into one home.
The covered glazed walkway creates a link between the two buildings and the individual structures have been reimagined as a cohesive family dwelling with spaces for communal activity yet also having private passive zones to reside.
Designed around the central courtyard with an established olive tree in the centre, the space acts as a private inner city oasis that connects the buildings and draws the occupants together.
Keeping character and the clients personal style throughout was key. Layering of textured materiality and using a darker yet natural palette throughout allows the architecture to be a flexible backdrop that can evolve overtime.
